Fostering the development of Ipswich’s next generation of athlete through evidenced based and athlete specific programming

What is the Program?

A 12‑week strength and conditioning program designed for youth athletes (ages 12–17) to improve overall strength, speed, agility, and injury prevention. The program will be structured utilising a long-term athletic development protocol, incorporating athletic qualities needed for the demands of their sport including; balance/proprioception, multiplanar stability, force absorption and production, and strength at specific joint angles/movement patterns. Utilising state of the art VALD Performance objective assessment technology, this program will be targeted, progressive and both athlete and sport specific.

Program Objectives:

Develop Fundamental Strength and Power: Use bodyweight, resistance bands, and free weights to build muscular strength and power.

Enhance Movement Skills: Emphasize proper form in dynamic warm-ups, plyometrics, and sport-specific drills.

Improve Agility and Speed: Incorporate agility drills to enhance coordination and speed.

Focus on Injury Prevention: Incorporating a variety of strength, landing mechanics, and motor control exercises to focus on robustness and minimising risk of injury.

Foster Confidence and Teamwork: Build a positive, encouraging environment where young athletes learn to set goals and work together.

Who is this program for?:

Youth athletes (aged 12-17) of all athletic capacities.

Where will this program be run?

Physioactive Clinic – 57 Thorn Street, Ipswich, QLD, 4305 in our fully equipped level 2 gym space.

Our Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Daniel Westphal will be the program lead. Daniel has vast experience in youth athlete development across all athletic areas, and is an accredited Level 1 & 2 ASCA qualified coach.

Program Schedule:

Tuesday afternoon – 4:30pm – 5:30pm

Thursday morning – 7:00am – 8:00am

Cost:

Initial One-off 1 Hour Consultation: $147.00 (Private Health Fund Rebate available depending on coverage)

A Pre-program individual assessment is compulsory to ascertain medical/injury history, current training loads, sports analysis, and goals, as well as a thorough physical assessment to then help develop programming for the classes. Further to this, this assessment is essential in deeming the participant safe for exercise.

Weekly Session Fee: $38 per session (Private Health Fund Rebate available depending on coverage)
